23/02/14 : THE GREAT LAKE TAUPO

Day 18, Turangi –Taupo (about 50km)

Beautiful day along the majestic Lake Taupo. His perimeter is about 193 kilometers,  spreading over 616km²and about 186 meters deep. We have got a perfect weather so far, but a few clouds come irregularly to hide the sun.

Late on the afternoon we get to Taupo, which is located just in front of the lake, at his north part. It is composed of 34 100 residents. Here we feel a perfectly relaxing atmosphere. There are also several good looking pubs located downtown Taupo.
Tonight we sleep in a small park. The night is fairly cold. This is due to a frozen breeze likely coming from the lake.
