09/02/14 : NELSON, BETWEEN SEA AND MOUNTAINS

Day 4, St Arnaud – Nelson (In Shuttle)

The following day, our call is to leave St Arnaud to go toward Nelson. It is a city very pleasant which drags plenty of tourists thanks to its sweet climat and its 2400 hours of sunshine per year. Moreover, the city is located between mountains and sea,  which make the atmosphere very pleasant.
To get there, we have to take a shuttle as it is our only way to travel following the accident. This trip in shuttle sucks us dry once again but Nelson is our only chance to find a bike store.
From now on, we realize that our project to do both South and North Island is in jeopardy. Indeed, that will cost us too much money. During the past 3 days, we already had to buy a new tyre which is quite expensive here in New Zealand. Plus, we must now buy a trail because the red bag we carry at the rear of our bike is way to heavy. Therefore it destroys our others bags located on the back rack of the bicycle. What a pity !

We can’t go on this way. Then, once we arrive in Nelson, we make our budget again and we decide to focus only on the North Island to enjoy it more, postponing the South Island for later.
Today is Sunday, all the bike shops are close then. We have to wait til tomorrow morning. Meanwhile, we look for a place to sleep tonight. We want to go away from the center town so that we could sleep easily, far from all the urban noises.
Finally, we find a beautiful park, fairly broad and looking pretty nice. It is just next to the sea and there is a bbc area, which is perfect to cook some meals. Tonight, we will sleep on the beach though.
