Day 15, Pipiriki – Raetehi (about 25km)
For our fifteenth day we do a small ride however
quite rough since there are only big and long steeps, which seems to be
endless as it goes on during 16km. Moreover, we are riding over a killing heat
and there isn't virtually any shade to rest a while. Fortunately we have got
plenty of water to ride for a moment.
Eventually, after a few hours, we get to the
end of this bloody steep. Actually, this is rewarded by a majectic lookout of
Mount Ruapehu, our next destination. This steep is following by a very nice
downhill slop, which is very pleasant. Sunset is coming, therefore we stop at
Raetihi campground to spend the night.
