19/02/14 : COLD SWIM

Day 14, Atene – Pipiriki (about 42km)

Terrific landcapes between high hills along the Whanganui River and Rain Forest. Once again, it looks like a jungle. The landscape make me think about the movie Jurassik Park. We can easily imagine that 65 million years ago, dinosaurs used to live here.
During the ride, there are some serious steep but it’s often rewarded by beautiful lookouts and nice downhills.
We stop today in the small village of Pipiriki, which is very little. By the way, we decide to have a swim in the Whanganui River, right next to the village. The water is quite cold but this bath is however pleasant.
Tonight, we sleep in a pretty nice and peaceful campground. Far from pollution.
