02/03/14 : WHITE SHELLS BEACH

Day 25, Kaihere - Orere Point (about 53km)

Today, we are riding along a small coast just under Auckland. This same coast is stuck between the big Hauraki Gulf and the small Regional Park of Hunua Ranges. It is a peaceful place where the traffic jam is virtually absent. That's why we choose to take this road which is however, not the best short cut to head to Auckland.

Nevertheless, it's worth it because this low traffic jam make the trip much more appreciable. Plus, we ride along the coast which is made mostly of shells beach. This is very beautiful.

The weather is mostly cloudy, though. Indeed, big gray clouds dominate the sky and during all day long. However, later on, the sun take back his seat in the sky.

On the last kilometers, the road is getting tougher cause of some serious steeps. We decide then to stop our day in a little village named Orere Point.
We sleep tonight in a small park just above Orere Beach, offering a nice lookout on the sea.
